From the north Gosforth is the gateway to Wasdale and Eskdale, the former
with its beautiful quiet lake and breathtaking views of Great Gable and
Scafell.
Gosforth is a pleasant village in the Lake District
National Park situated between the hills and the sea in the west of
Cumbria, which often has a much warmer and drier climate than the
rest of the Lake District.
The village centre is within five minutes walking
distance and has a small group of shops and pubs which will provide most
of your basic needs, the latter also serve meals.
The sea is about two miles from Gosforth and at
low tide there are clean beaches with expanses of sand on which to play
and walk.
Potters Barn is ideally situated for walkers, with
the whole of the quieter western valleys close by and the great central
fells in Wasdale and Eskdale. My husband, who knows the area well, is
happy to discuss plans for walking.
The area around Gosforth also has a good range
of eating places for anyone who does not want to cook while on holiday,
and bread and milk can be ordered for your arrival by arrangement.
The pottery is a National Park Information Point
and if you are staying here we can supply you with details of places to
visit in the immediate location or the Lake District as a whole . If you
would like these before you arrive please get in touch with us.
